A mi manera

La historia de esta canción empieza en 1967 como una composición en francés de Claude Francois ('Cloclo') y Jacques Revaux y letra de Claude François y Gilles Thibaut, con el título "Comme d'habitude" ('como de costumbre') y una letra romántica triste, de pareja que hace cosas por rutina, en la que la frase "Comme d'habitude" se repite 29 veces en 43 versos. Normal que se titule así.

Parece que el todoterreno del mundo del espectáculo, y cantante, Paul Anka oyó la canción ese año, estando de vacaciones en Francia, y, aunque no le gustó la interpretación, encontró que tenía algo, y decidió adquirir los derechos de publicación.

Casi 2 años más tarde, después de una cena con el cantante Frank Sinatra en Florida, decidió escribir una letra para una canción a la medida de Sinatra con la melodía de "comme d'habitude", un tema totalmente distinto y un nuevo título: "May way".

Frank Sinatra la grabó a finales de 1968 y se publicó a primeros del 69 en un LP con el mismo título, y como single, entrando enseguida en las listas de éxitos de USA y del UK.

Desde entonces, muchos cantantes de éxito han versionado esta canción.
